Free Tutorial: How To Draw Eye Expressions

The distance between the eyes should fit another eye. The reason the circles have a slight gap between them is because they represent the eyeball, there is another element to add later: the tear ducts.

Now as it's been said, the circle is the eyeball, and now we will place the rest of the elements of the eyes on it. Draw the line that makes the upper lid, and then draw the waterline of the eye.

Notice how the waterline curves along the circle, and how it is drawn with 2 lines, the red and green, that is because the thickness of that lid is always noticeable.
