“In this lesson, I want to talk about the material clay, but first I want to tell you what the final project is going to be about. I will introduce you to realistic portrait sculpture. We are going to work with a live model and then working from life on our portrait. For me, portraiture is one of the fundamental skills for any kind of figurative sculptor. When you meet somebody on the street, for example, the first area you look at is usually their face or their body language, but most of the time it's their face. So when you even have a full figure, people usually look first at the portrait...”
