Alan Coulson

My name is Alan Coulson, I am a self taught portrait painter based in the UK. My work is highly detailed and contains elements of photorealism, however my focus is on making unique and visually interesting paintings rather than facsimiles of photographs.
I’ve been making portraits for around 15 years and in that time I’ve been fortunate to have had my work selected for exhibition as part of the prestigious BP Portrait Award at The National Portrait Gallery London on five occasions. In 2012, I was awarded third prize for my portrait of Richie Culver.
Although I tend to focus on my own work, I have produced commissioned work for clients including The New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Bloomberg Markets Magazine, Carlton Books, The Chronicle Review andClub Wembley.
I have works in numerous private collections and gallery representation with Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts NY.
