I'm a keen advocate of personal work. Here are some of my animation experiments where I play with anatomical form, humor and concept.
I usually approach each project with a broad idea of where I'll take it and then improvise along the way, adding layers of complexity as I go.
In each project I take the opportunity to explore and develop in a new area. That can be anything from a new type of facial rigging to pattern design or composition, the main consideration is that I'm learning and exploring.
The majority of animation is done in 3ds Max. Any animated textures are created in After Effects and a lot of my preparatory work is done in Adobe Illustrator.
